At Long Road Studio, we guide you every step of the way to ensure you’re prepared and excited for your session. Whether you’re planning a boudoir shoot to celebrate your sensuality or a fashion session to elevate your style, here’s what you should bring for a flawless shoot. Here are tips on what to wear.

Can I recommend just one thing?!? Yes, a BODYSUIT. You will thank me later. 🙂

I suggest bringing a variation of the following combinations:

  • One piece set (bodysuit, teddy, fitted slip dress or shapewear)
  • Two piece set (bra/undies, high-waisted skirt/bra, garter belt set/bra/stockings)
  • Cover up wrap/shawl/cardigan/off-shoulder shirt
  • Something you LOVE – Jewel and pastel colors or black photograph well

Boudoir Shoot Wardrobe Essentials- what to wear

For a boudoir session, it’s all about feeling sexy, confident, and comfortable in your own skin. Here are a few wardrobe ideas to consider:

  • Lingerie Sets: Choose pieces that make you feel empowered. Lace bras, matching sets, bodysuits, or corsets are timeless options. Colors like black, red, and blush are universally flattering.
  • Something Personal: Bring an item that has special meaning, such as your partner’s favorite shirt or a silk robe, to make the shoot even more intimate.
  • High Heels: A classic pair of heels can elongate your legs and add an extra level of sophistication to your look.
  • Jewelry: Simple yet elegant pieces like pearls or gold necklaces can complement your outfit without overpowering the look.

You can shop for elegant lingerie at websites like Adore Me, Savage X Fenty, or Agent Provocateur.

Fashion Shoot Wardrobe Suggestions

For fashion shoots, your wardrobe should reflect your unique style while showcasing the pieces you want to highlight. Consider these options:

  • Statement Pieces: A bold jacket, statement dress, or designer outfit can create stunning focal points for your images.
  • Accessories: Hats, scarves, jewelry, and bags can elevate your look and give your photos depth.
  • Layering: Bring options for layering, such as jackets, blazers, or sweaters, to create versatile looks within a single session.
  • Shoes: Pack a few pairs of shoes, from sleek heels to chic boots, to match the variety of outfits you plan to wear.

For fashion-forward clothing, consider shopping at Net-a-Porter, Zara, or Revolve.

Preparing for Your Shoot- What to wear.

No matter the shoot, remember to bring wardrobe options that make you feel confident and aligned with your style. Feel free to contact us at Long Road Studio if you need more personalized wardrobe advice before your session!

Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure, but avoid facials or waxing for 2-3 days before your session, as they can cause redness or blotchiness. If possible and depending on your skin type, also avoid excessive sun tanning or spray tans just before your session, as it can cause extreme orange/red skin tones when photographed. Also, general grooming is always highly recommended before your shoot.

Here are a few boudoir photo shoot tips and tricks to consider: What to Wear

DO cut out all tags from the clothing you bring, including the laundry instructions inside the garment (little white tags with care instructions).

DO invest in at least one cute bra/undies set (black is a great option) that makes you feel super sexy and fits your body type. Cup accentuating or push-up bras work wonderfully (consider high-waisted undies, corset belt, or bodysuit options if the tummy is an area of concern).

Plus-size recommendations: high-waisted undies, underbust waist cincher corset garter belt, and/or bodysuits. Pair with off-the-shoulder cardigan, button-down shirt, or lace robe.

DON’T wear anything that is too small and digs into your skin or creates the dreaded “muffin top.” If the tummy is a concern, please bring high-wasted undies.

DO consider normal clothing if you’re nervous about revealing too much, such as off-the-shoulder tees, cardigans, tanktops, a fitted button-up shirt, or a high-slit skirt/dress. Many of these items can be paired with cute undergarments to make a very sexy (but less skimpy) outfit.

DO remember that sometimes no outfit can be the best outfit. Some of our favorite images were photos taken when a client wasn’t wearing any clothing but simply covered up with a white sheet, towel, pillow, or a prop (sheet & furs provided in-studio).

DON’T feel like you have to drop a ton of money on new items for your shoot. Although it can be nice to have one really elaborate piece of lingerie, we can create stunning images with the items you already have in your closet and affordable pieces from Amazon.

DO load up on accessories. Pearls, long necklaces, gaudy costume jewelry, hats, fishnets or sheer black hose, and most importantly–cute shoes!! High heels are a nice way to extend the length of your legs.

DON’T’s include – loose & flowy (baby dolls), corsets, busy patterns, neon colors and costumes.
